Display query results in a temporary map layer

After creating and refining a query in the Data Explorer app, you can view the resulting items in the Maps app. This works by creating a temporary layer, which is only visible to you and remains available until your Alloy session ends.

Note

Items with an empty Geometry attribute won't be shown!

Show on map

To show the results of the active query tab on the map, select Open in in the bottom toolbar and choose Map.

The Maps app will open in a new browser tab, displaying the resulting items in a temporary layer. Depending how far apart the items are, you may need to pan and zoom the map to find where they are!

The Open In menu open in the toolbar, with multiple items selected.

Remove a temporary layer

To remove a temporary layer in the Maps app, select Layers in the sidebar, and then select the layer's button.

Temporary layers always appear at the top of the Layers panel and are named after the corresponding query tab. Typically, this is either the design/interface being queried, or the name of the saved query.

Note

If you select More and choose Turn off all layers, or sign out of Alloy, all temporary layers will be lost.
