Search your data across all the Alloy Apps

Use Alloy's powerful search to find the data you're looking for. Search across the Alloy Apps for any type of item or feature type, including designs, interfaces, boards, layers, workflows and more!

When searching for items of a specific design/interface, Alloy will search the contents of every attribute on every item. This lets you search for items based on their stored data, which isn't necessarily included in their title/subtitle. If you're concerned about sensitive data, it's possible for Text attributes to be unsearchable 🚫.

Note

The search results will only include things that you have permission to view!

To start searching from Alloy Home or any other app:

  1. Select Search in the top app bar to open the Search window. On mobile devices 📱, select in the top-right corner.

  2. If necessary, select on the left to clear the previous search category and on the right to clear any previous terms from the search box.

  3. Set the context of the search:

    Search within a suggested category

Select the top-left Search for button to show a list of suggested search categories and choose one to continue. To customise this list and enable more categories, see Search categories.

Depending on the app you're using, some context-specific categories may be available, e.g. in the Boards app, you can choose "Items in active board".

Locations is a special category that lets you search for any address or landmark and locate it on the map. To learn more, see Location search.

Search for items of a design/interface

To search for items of a particular design or interface, start typing any part of its name in the search box and select it from the suggestions that appear.

Choosing an interface lets you search the items of all designs that implement it. However, only their interface attributes will be searched.

For example, searching the Jobs interface will search the items of all your job designs. Their inherited attributes (e.g. Description, Completion Time) will be searched but not the attributes defined on their designs.

    Note

If no suggestions appear, make sure the top-left Search for button doesn't have a category set. If it does, select to clear it.

An initial set of results is displayed, listing everything in your chosen search context.
