Overview

Alloy allows you to edit the attribute values of items and change the item properties if required. Alloy records editing history so you can review and compare today’s data with how it looked before.

Note

Depending on your permission settings, you may not be able to edit items or their components. Contact your administrator for assistance.

Editing item attribute values

Alloy allows you to edit the value of attributes for individual items.

  1. Select an item to view its details in the Item details panel.
  2. In the Item details panel, the General page is displayed by default.
  3. Select the button on the action bar. You can now edit the attribute fields displayed in the General tab.

Some fields allow you to enter new values, other items provide dialogs that allow you to change the contents of the field.

  1. When you have finished editing the details select Save to update the system.
Note

Only editable attributes are listed in edit mode, standard read-only or calculated attributes cannot be edited.

Editing item properties

Alloy also allows you to edit certain item properties.

  1. Select an item to view its details in the Item details panel.
  2. In the Item details panel, the General page is displayed by default.
  3. Using the tab bar, select the Settings page to display the item properties.
  4. Select the button on the action bar. You can now edit the following properties fields displayed in the Settings tab.

You can edit the following properties:

  • icon - this allows you to change the icon displayed for the selected item, see Selecting icons.
  • colour - this allows you to change the colour of the icon displayed for the selected item, see Selecting colours.
  • collection - this allows you to change the collection that the item belongs to, for example, moving the item from the Live collection to the Archive collection, see Archiving and deleting items.
Note

The available collections are dependent on the design that the item is based and not all items will have more than one collection.

  1. When you have finished editing the properties select Save to update the system.
