Overview

The Access advisor allows you to examine the permissions for an individual user within Alloy.

Understanding the Access advisor

The Access advisor provides you with a graphical view of your permission settings for the selected user. It is a read-only view of all the permission settings for a selected user.

Selected User name

When you select a user, the user name is displayed at the top of the manager window.

Category column

There are no permission settings associated directly with each category. Selecting a category displays all the objects that the user has permissions configured within that category in the Object column.

There are five areas within the system where you can view permissions:

Within each area you can examine the user access, for example, attributes within a design or interface or visibility of layers.

Object column

The Object column lists all the objects that the user has permission configure for the selected category, for example the design category will list all the designs on the system that the user can access.

When you select an object the permission settings for the selected user appear in the Permissions column.

Attributes column

The Attributes column is displayed when there are attributes associated with the selected objects, this applies to designs and interfaces. The column is not displayed, for example when you select the Card, Layers or Meshes category, as they do not have attributes associated with them.

When you select an attribute the permission settings appear in the Permissions column (this applies only to design and interface objects). The colour of the attribute icons reflect the status of the permission settings for the attribute.

Red - indicates that the attribute is totally restricted to the user.
Yellow - indicates that the attribute permissions are enabled as Read only.
Green - indicates that attribute permissions are enabled as Read/Write.

Permissions column

The Permissions column displays the state of the permissions for the currently selected object or attribute.

Note

You cannot change any permissions within the Access advisor.

Search field

The Category, Object and Attributes columns each have a search field at the top that can be used to perform a partial search to reduce the list within a columns or for a specific item search within a column.

Selection

The selected category, design or attribute is highlighted and the icon changes to a tick.
