Overview

The Route editor allows you to manage routes within Alloy projects.

Understanding the route manager

When you work with routes within a project you are presented with the Route editor in the centre of your workspace. The editor provides you with the tools to create a route and a graphical view of your route for the selected project.

Waypoint list

The waypoint panel on the left displays a list of all the tasks as waypoints that you add to the route. The waypoints are listed in the order that they are planned along the route. The first and last waypoint icons indicate the start and end of the route.

You can click and drag waypoints within the list to change the order of the waypoints within the route. The route is automatically updated on the map.

You can select a task waypoint in the list and the point is highlighted on the map.

Route summary

The route summary is displayed at the top of the route map and indicates the length of the route and the time taken to travel it. The summary displayed depends on the whether it is the shortest, fastest or original route.

Route map

The route map initially displays the tasks associated with the project as waypoints. When you create the route, the sequence of waypoints included in the route and the associated tasks are displayed on the map.

You can select a task on the map and it is selected, indicated by a tick, in the waypoint list.

Route start point

The start point of a route on the map is indicated by the icon. The icon appears at the top of the waypoint list.

Route end point

The end point of a route on the map is indicated by the icon. The icon appears at the end of the waypoint list.

Routing tools

The routing tools that you use to create and edit a route are accessed using the icon in the bottom right hand corner or the map display, see Routing tools for details on how to use the tools.

Save button

When you have finished configuring the route for the selected project use the Save button to apply the settings.
