Creating defect designs
Create a design for a new defect type
Overview
When you have a new defect type that is going to be used within your project you need to create a defect design.
The basic Alloy defect design includes the following set of interfaces that allow you to create defects.
Creating a defect design
To create a defect design use the following procedure:
-
Go to the Designer module and select Create design.
-
Select the Defect type from the list of design types.
-
Complete the design form, see Creating designs.
-
Confirm settings in the left panel and select Create.
The completed design is displayed in the right panel. A basic custom defect design has four system attributes associated with it that appear in all defect items based on your design.
- Defect Number
- Description
- Reported Date
- Remedied Date
In addition it includes a set of default link attributes, for example:
- Status
- Reporters
- Related defects
- Attachments
- Raised jobs
- Defect inspections
You cannot edit these links as they are required by the system.
- You can now customise the design by adding custom attributes to the design, which can then be used to create defect items.
Depending on your permission settings, you may not be able to create designs. Contact your administrator for assistance.
