Creating layers

Ready to create a new layer?​

Overview​

In addition to the system layers that are provided in Alloy, you can create your own custom layers to manage how your data is displayed on the map.

Creating layers​

To create a new custom layer:

  1. Select Layers in the right panel menu to open the Layers panel.

  2. Select Add layer at the bottom of the panel.

  1. Fill out the following fields and then select Create:

    • Title - enter a distinct name that clearly identifies the layer.

    • Tags - use tags to categorise layers for easy management going forward. Select any tags that apply to this new layer. Tags can be set at any time, see Layer tags.

  1. The newly created layer will open on the right, displaying its empty Styles page. To configure the layer to show specific asset information, you need to add a layer style.
