Flow control width

Set the relative width of a flow control

When you're editing a flow document, you can set the relative width of any control you add to its layout.

By default, most controls automatically size themselves to display their content in full (space permitting).

Alternatively, you can restrict a control's width to a percentage of the space available to it, or stretch it to always fill the available space.

Note

The width of a control includes its margins.

Configure a control

To configure the width of a control, select it, and then select Relative width in the top toolbar:

  • Auto (default) - the control's width is automatically adjusted to show its content in full, providing there's available space in the document or container control (if this control is positioned within one).

  • 10% to 100% - set the control's width to a percentage of the available width in the document or container control (if this control is positioned within one).

  • Stretch - the control's width will always fill the available space, regardless of its content.
