Overview
The date and time offset allows you to set any date and time attribute to a value that is offset from the workflow execute time. This is useful when you want the target date for a job to be automatically set relative to a defect being identified. For example you can create a job 48 hours after the creation of a defect has triggered a workflow.
Date and time offsets are only available within Create item and Edit item workflow actions.
The data time offset feature is only associated with date, time or date and time attributes configured within a design.
Accessing the Date and Time Offset feature
When you are configuring a Create item or Edit item action and there are date and time fields within the item design, you will be able to access the Date and Time Offset feature.
Examples of date and time fields that can occur are illustrated below:
Configuring a Date and Time Offset
To configure a date and time offset use the following procedure:
- Select the the date, time or date and time field that you want to configure. A dialog is displayed that allows you to configure the field.
There are three tabs:
- Constant - this allows you to set the exact date and time for the attribute when the action is triggered.
- Offset - this allows you to set an offset from when the workflow was executed.
- Link - this allows you to link the date and time to the input from a preceding action node (stage) within the workflow branch.
For more information on the Constant and Link tabs see Workflow link attributes.
- To define an offset select the Offset tab. The dialog displays the offset fields that you can define.
- Select the Days type field to define whether you want to use working days, non-working days (holidays) or both to affect the offset. By default the Days type is set to both.
Use one or more of the following fields to configure the offset:
- Years (365 days)
- Months (30 days)
- Days
- Hours
- Mins
The Years and Months fields assume 365 days per year and an average of 30 days per month.
- When you have completed all the required fields select Save to return to the Item details page for the create or edit action.
