Overview

You are provided with a set of workflow actions that you can use to build workflows. There are four categories of actions that contain operators.

  • Actions
  • Mesh
  • Messaging
  • Relation
Note

The action operators that are available to use are initially dependent on the type of workflow that you are creating.

Workflow action operators

All workflows have either an Event or Schedule root node. When you edit a workflow you can add workflow action operators that are used to create nodes and are represented by icons within the workflow editor.

Actions

Clone item

This allows you to clone items that are outputs from a preceding node, typically a query or filter. This operator is frequently used with templates to avoid creating duplicate items.

Create item

This allows you to create a new item based on a selected design and is not dependent on the output of any preceding node.

Edit or update item

This allows you to update an item or items based on a design or interface from a previous action, typically a query or filter.

Delete item

This allows you to delete an item or items that is output from a previous action, typically a query or filter.

Note

The Clone, Create, Edit and Delete actions are not available for the first node associated with a schedule root node or a termination node.

Mesh

Mesh

This allows you to call an Alloy Mesh endpoint. It is a terminating action.

Messaging

HTTP Request

This allows you to send an outgoing web request. It is a terminating action.

Note

The HTTP Request action is not available for the first node associated with a schedule root node or a termination node

Message

This allows you to send an email or SMS message with customised content and possible push notification related to the item or items from the previous action. It is a terminating action.

Run report

This allows you to run a report based on the current item or items from the previous action.

Relation

Filter query

This is used to evaluate an AQS query, which is related the input from the previous node. If the output is true then the workflow continues to execute the workflow. If the output is false then the workflow path does not continue.

Note

The Filter action is not available for the first node associated with a schedule root node or a termination node.

Query

This allows you to create a query that can be used to define a list of items for the workflow to act on. This is commonly used with a schedule type workflow.

Relation

This allows you to change the item or items that subsequent actions act on by using an AQS path to navigate the data structure to a new set of items.

Note

The Relation action is not available for the first node associated with a schedule root node or a termination node

Refer to the individual action topics that are listed in the menu below for more information about actions.
