Working days and holidays within Alloy
Overview
Alloy includes a working days design as part of the core installation. In addition, there is a core Working days item that is based on the design and allows you to define the default working days that the system uses, for example within workflows.
Alloy also allows you to configure holiday items that are used in conjunction with working days and allows you to configure a working day calendar.
Configuring working days
To configure the working days within the system, use the following procedure:
- Use the Search panel to find the Working Days design and item.
- Select the Working day item, the General tab is displayed in the Item details panel on the right.
- This allows you to edit the days that you want to include as working days. Select the button on the action bar. You can now edit the days displayed in the General tab.

Select the days that you want to include in the working week.

Select Save when you have completed your selection of days.
Configuring holidays
Each day or block of days that should to be treated as holidays within Alloy, can be created as holiday items. There is a system Holiday design that allows you to create these items using the following procedure.

From the dashboard select the Designer module.

Select Create item, the Item creation process page is displayed on the left.
Depending on the design, some steps may be optional. For items that have geometry see Geometry types.
- Select step , the Design selection page is displayed. This allows you to define the holiday item that you are creating.
Use the following fields to define the item:
- Design - Select this field to display a dialog that allows you to select the holiday design that will define the item type that you are creating.

Collection - For this design the Live collection is selected by default.

Template - This is not applicable to this design and item.

When you have completed all the necessary fields, select Next and move to the next step.

The first step of the process indicates that it is complete.
Entering item details
The next step requires you to enter some item details.
- Select step , the Details page is displayed similar to that shown below. The details required for the item will vary depending on the design you previously selected.
The following mandatory fields are displayed at the top of the Details page.

Name - This allows you to enter a name that identifies the holiday item.

Start date - This allows you to enter the start date of the holiday period, a dialog displays the calendar that allows you to select a start date.
The following is optional:
- End date - This allows you to select the end date of the holiday period, a dialog displays the calendar that allows you to select one or more dates for the end date. If you are only creating a holiday item for one day you do not need to enter an end date.

Select Next when you have completed all the details that are required.

The second step of the process indicates that it is complete.
- Select Create when you have completed steps and .
You can repeat this procedure to create all the relevant holidays within a calendar year. These items are then recognised as non-working days when you define offsets within a workflow.
